Big Bets Bobby’s Take on the Navarrete vs Jacobs Fight!

Navarrete.v.dogboe

Last December, Emanuel Navarrete filed a late candidate for Upset of the Year in boxing, after de-throning Issac Dogboe in a unanimous decision to claim the WBO junior featherweight title. This weekend, the pair enter the 13th round, as ‘Royal Storm’ look to avenge the only loss of his professional career against the Mexican champion.

The Convention Center, Arizona will host this WBO junior featherweight title fight, with the bookies unable to separate Navarrete and Dogboe following a gripping 36 minutes in their first meeting. Dogboe was heavy favourite coming into the first fight, however, this time around it’s a real “pick’ em” with a toss of the coin a preferred method of prediction for some.

Dogboe (20-1) enjoyed a breakout 2018 where he fought four times against an array of talent. A win over Jessie Magdaleno by 11th round TKO was enough to earn him the WBO junior featherweight strap, with a successful defence against Hidenori Otake of Japan following. The Ghanaian-Brit then ran into the brick wall that was Navarrete; a 24-year-old with a record of 26-1, having only tasted defeat over four rounds in his sixth fight, to an opponent who failed to weigh in.

In the opening fight, the Mexican displayed physical characteristics that Dogboe struggled to negate. Pressure from the champion was countered with bludgeoning left hooks to the body, and combinations on the inside that ‘Royal Storm’ had little answer for. From his taller vantage point, Navarrete was able to effectively deploy his jab, backing up the champion with straight right hands, and some powerful uppercuts.

Swelling to Dogboe’s right eye caused the champion severe problems going into the latter stages of the fight, with the Mexican turning on the heat in the championship rounds, leaving Dogboe swinging and missing wildly.

So is it repeat or revenge in the rematch? Sometimes, in boxing, fighters have another’s number. This may well be the case with Navarrete and Dogboe. The damage to the eye of Dogboe may have let the fight slip away last December, but the size and reach of the Mexican was evident from the opening bell. Dogboe failed to get his jab away, or inflict any constant pressure Navarrete in the 12-round battle. Unless ‘Royal Storm’ can completely change up his tactics for this rematch, it’s hard to see it going a different way.

With such a 50/50 contest, backing the draw with a small stake is always worthwhile.

Emanuel Navarrete to win @ 5/6 (BetVictor)
Navarrete vs. Dogboe draw @ 18/1 (BetVictor)

Big Sporting Events: Royal Ascot

DTxKHWAAABLhO

Royal Ascot is one of the most popular sporting events on the calendar, and it is an historic and iconic event which perfectly combines fashion and racing.

The event is held at the Berkshire track, and tends to take place in mid-late June, often resulting in clement weather conditions.

It is Britain’s most valuable race meeting, and the prize money tends to be increased year-on-year. In 2016, the total prize money was announced as £6,580,000. The five-day festival also attracts competitors from overseas with trainers often travelling over from Australian, Japan and the US in order to try and get their hands on a share of the spoils. Over 450 horses will compete across thirty different races, and there is always something to keep punters entertained.

The event gets underway with the royal procession, with Queen Elizabeth II officially opening proceedings ahead of the opening race.

This world-famous event has a strict dress code which must adhered to at all times, and there are a number of restaurants serving high-quality cuisine throughout the five days. It is officially Britain’s most attended race meeting with over 300,000 visitors flocking to the track each year.

On the turf, there are 18 group races being held at the meeting, with eight group 1s staged at the Berkshire track during this period. It is a chance for some of the world’s finest thoroughbreds to test themselves over a variety of distances. The Commonwealth Cup was the latest Group 1 to be added to the schedule back in 2015, replacing the Buckingham Palace Stakes.

Standout group races include: The Queen Anne Stakes, The Kings Stand Stakes, The St.James’ Palace Stakes, The Gold Cup, The Duke of Cambridge Stakes, and The Diamond Jubilee Stakes. The latter is the final group races to take place, and is staged on the Saturday, just ahead of the Wokingham.

The longest race across the five days is the Queen Alexandra Stakes, which is held on the final day, and is competed over 2 miles 5 furlongs and 159 yards.

The meeting is very popular with bettors, and many ante-post punters place wagers on their selections months in advance. It is also very popular with viewers, and it’s broadcast in over 200 different countries.

Royal Ascot is part of a packed summer racing for UK racing fans, but this meeting is often the priority for owners and trainers. With huge prizes on offer, it is an incredibly enticing prospect for connections. Trainers such as Charlie Appleby, William Haggas, Richard Fahey, Sir Michael Stoute and Tim Easterby are regularly seen at the track. The aforementioned Sir Michael Stoute set a new record back in 2018 when Poets Word was victorious in the Prince of Wales Stakes. It was his 76th winner at the festival, beating a record set by the late Sir Henry Cecil.

Aidan O’Brien is another trainer who regularly fires in winners at the track, and the County Tipperary-based handler managed to pick up a 1-2-3 in the Queens Vase in 2018.

The five days are packed full of drama, excitement, and there are always plenty of stories on and off the track.

When and Where?

Royal Ascot is held at Ascot racecourse which is located in Berkshire. It is always held in mid-summer, typically mid-late June.

Why is Royal Ascot so Popular?

Royal Ascot is incredibly popular as it is a summertime staple for racing fans. With a limited amount of group races in the UK, Royal Ascot provides a chance to witness some of the country’s finest thoroughbreds on display.

It is also popular with overseas fans as trainers such as Wesley Ward will send a string of competitors over from the US. Horses from France and Japan also regularly compete at the track during the five days.

It is incredibly popular with punters as it provides numerous opportunities to wager on top class racing events. With every single race at the festival being packed full of quality, it is an extremely busy time for those who enjoy having a punt.

There is also a certain amount of prestige which comes with Royal Ascot, and it is a cornerstone of the British sporting calendar. For attendees, it is the perfect opportunity to showcase some sartorial elegance, and get suitably dressed for the occasion.

What Betting Opportunities Are Available?

Loads! Royal Ascot is one of the biggest betting events of the summer, and there are many ways to place wagers on the festival.

Bookmakers will price up the group races months in advance, with top class competitors marking their intentions to race at Royal Ascot by competing in high quality events earlier in the season.

There are a number of betting markets which span the festival as a whole.

Key Betting Markets

To Win a Race – This is the simplest market available at Royal Ascot, and punters are able to predict which horse will win any of the races on the card. Your chosen horse must finish ahead of the remainder of the field in order to receive a pay-out.

To Win a Race (Ante-Post) – It is the same as above, but these bets can be placed months in advance. Markets will be formed during the latter part of the calendar year, and it is possible to pick a winner around eight-ten months ahead of the event.

Each Way Bet – Royal Ascot attracts some HUGE fields, and some races can command up to 30 runners. This enables punters to get stuck into some big each-way prices. Betting each-way will allow bettors to select a runner at bigger odds. Depending on the number of entrants, you will be paid out (at 1/5 of the odds) if your horse finishes in the top four positions. If your horse wins, you will be paid out for the each-way part of your bet as well as its outright success.

Match Bet – This is a very popular way of betting at Royal Ascot. Many bookmakers will pitch two of the market prinicples together in a betting market, and ask punters to predict which of the pair will finish in front. These are very popular as they eliminate the need to pick a race winner. If Horse A finishes in front of Horse B, you will still win regardless of whether they came 16th and 18th.

Top Trainer at the Festival – Those who fancy a festival-long bet can enjoy many different markets including ‘Top Trainer’. This will enable punters to predict which of the key trainers will fire in the most winners during the course of the five days. This requires looks through the card, and deciding which trainer has the strongest hand.

Top Jockey at the Festival – Same as above, but this is simply a case of predicting which rider will be on board the highest number of winners throughout Royal Ascot. Again, this requires plenty of research.

International Winners – There are a number of different markets priced up which relate to overseas winner. These can include ‘1 or more US trained winners at the festival’, or ‘At least 1 French-trained horse to win a Group race’ etc.

Trainer Totals – Some bookmakers will also provide additional markets which relate to trainer performance. For example – ‘Will Sir Michael Stoute train 3 or more winners at Royal Ascot 2019?’. These are usually released on the eve of the festival getting underway, and can often be found in the specials section.

Accumulator Bets – Royal Ascot accumulators are very popular with punters in the UK. These allow bettors to put together a number of winners from across the five days. All of the selections must prevail in order for the accumulator to cash-in.

Bobby’s Big Betting Tips for Royal Ascot

Trainer Form Usually Stands Up at Royal Ascot – Some trainers simply have access to the best two-year olds, whilst others have the knack of simply training three-year olds for these races. Surprises will occur at the festival, but generally, it’s advised to follow the trainer stats at the track. If a trainer has a great record with newcomers in a particular race, it is likely that they will have another potential winner up their sleeve in this year’s contest.

The Draw Should Not be Ignored – The draw is usually fairly important, particular in group contests. This can sometimes be attributed to big fields, and it can something be difficult to forge a way through from a tricky position. Have a look at the draw bias (which can be found online) at the track, and it is advised to work out which horse is most handily-drawn.

Certain races will have a draw bias, with some key races posting stats such as 4 of the 5 winners coming from a low-numbered draw.

Overseas Trainers haven’t Just Come to Make Up the Numbers – Once the declarations have been made, it is advised to check out the list of overseas competitors and work out which horses have the greatest chances of succeeding. Nothing is guaranteed, but trainers do not send their horses half-way across the world to run 15th. If a thoroughbred has been selected to run at the prestigious festival, it must be showing plenty at home, and it’s advised to avoid writing it off until you’ve fully done your research.

ITV1 and ITV4 will be showing ALL of the racing from Royal Ascot in 2019, and there will be additional coverage online.

BOBBY’S BEST WEEKEND BETTING EVENTS – 10TH-11TH MAY

DqQVXsAAqnp

SOCCER – National League Play-Off Final – AFC Fylde vs Salford City

The first of my big betting events this weekend comes from Wembley as AFC Fylde and Salford go head to head in their bid to reach the Football League.

This is far from a popular draw with both sides having spent big in their bid to reach the EFL, but this should be an entertaining 90 minutes, and a decent betting heat as well.

These two sides met at the end of April, with Fylde running out 1-0 winners, but Salford have a number of players who are used to the big occasion. Adam Rooney for example is very experienced, and has enjoyed a standout debut season in the North West of England.

AFC Fylde have the National League Player of the Season in their ranks with the excellent Danny Rowe aiming to end the season on a high. He will be popular in the anytime goalscorer market.

Graham Alexander’s side were defensively excellent towards the end of the season, and kept eight clean sheets in nine matches between the beginning of March and mid-April, and former Fleetwood man Nathan Pond has been part of that rearguard action. He has already acheived promotion from this division, and he knows what it takes to be successful at Wembley.

There were 32 shots in the game when these two sides met at the end of the April, and although there was only one goal in the 90 minutes (both sides made changes), another entertaining game is in prospect.

Salford will start as favourites for this contest, and they have beaten Fylde in two of their last three head-to-heads, but this game could go either way, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see extra-time or penalties decide this one.

There’s copious Football League experience in both of these squads, and those players could make all the difference here.

There isn’t much between the pair, and this looks set to be a superbly entertaining 90 minutes. One of these two teams will be following Leyton Orient into the EFL, with both teams aiming to reach the fourth tier for the very first time in their short history.

UK Soccer fans can enjoy the National League Play-Off final on BT Sport this weekend

HOCKEY – World Championships – Denmark vs France

The IIHF World Championships get underway on May 10th in Slovakia, and one of the opening Group A contests sees Denmark take on France. It is one of my big betting events for this weekend.

Sweden are the holders, but luckily for both of these sides, the champions have been drawn in Group B. They will be aiming to win a third consecutive title, but there are a number of teams in the competition, who will make it tough for them.

With Canada and the US likely to start as heavy favourites in Group A, these two sides have a free-hit to try and gatecrash the party. The top four from each section will progress to the latter stages of the competition, and both teams will fancy their chances of making the cut. Denmark and France will see their opening game as extremely winnable, and it should be a fascinating contest.

Denmark ran out winners when they met earlier this year in Austria, and they will be aiming to make it 2/2 in 2019. France’s only two recent victories against this opponent came in a couple of International Friendlies, and they might find it tough here.

It’s a tough section, but with Great Britain likely to fill bottom spot, neither side look set to pick up the wooden spoon. Denmark have a decent roster, and with games against Finland and Slovakia to come, they should be able to win the mid-table battle, and follow Team Canada and Team USA through to the knock-out rounds.

There are set to be many fascinating games taking place over the two weeks, but this should be played at a decent pace, and should be a very entertaining watch.

The IIHF World Championships will be broadcast live on Free Sports in the UK. Games throughout the tournament will be shown on this free-to-air channel.

Soccer – Championship Play-Offs – Aston Villa vs West Brom

The Championship play-offs throw up a very tasty looking Midlands derby, and it’s the third of our big betting events for this weekend.

Villa’s unbeaten run came to an end at the hands of champions Norwich last weekend, but Dean Smith’s side are unlikely to be knocked off course by that defeat. They’ve been excellent in recent weeks, and have a number of big-game players, who are likely to shine on this big stage.

Jack Grealish’s return was instrumental in their play-off run, whilst the likes of Connor Hourihane and John McGinn have also played key roles in recent weeks.

It’s been a long time since the Villains beat their near-neighbours, but they need to take advantage of this home tie, as it won’t be easy going to the Hawthornes later in the week.

WBA have been better, and more consistent under James Shan, but they’ve struggled on the road, and they mustn’t make a slow start to this tie. The Baggies have won just one of their last six away matches, and haven’t won in any of their last four games on the road. Shan’s men have plenty of goals in the side with the Gayle/Rodriguez partnership firing consistently throughout the campaign.

Villa are the favourites in the betting market, and that is perfectly understandable. They have plenty of momentum coming into this fixture, and the second leg could be tough for Smith’s men. The return of Tammy Abraham is certainly a fillip for the hosts, and he will give them a different dimension in the final third. Jonathon Kodjia has filled the void well in his absence, but Abraham’s natural goalscoring instinct could prove to be the difference between the two sides.

The Championship has thrown up some fascinating games this season, and both Play-Off Semi-Finals look fascinatingly poised. This match in particular could be a fantastic watch, and Villa will be looking to justify home advantage in this first meeting.

Sky Sports Football will have full coverage of the EFL Play-Offs across the next fortnight.

Aussie Rules – AFL – Port Adelaide Power vs Adelaide Crows

This Adelaide derby is the fourth big betting events this weekend, and it looks set to be a fascinating clash between two sides who have made relatively inconsistent starts to the campaign.

The Crows come off the back of a relatively low-scoring victory against the Dockers, and made it three in a row, which helped alleviate the pressure on the side. They’d made a poor start, but can now boast a 4-3 record.

It’s a record matched by the Power, who have a decent young side, but that has led to a few inconsistencies as well. They were slow starters on Friday, conceding seven goals in the opening quarter during their comprehensive defeat to Collingwood.

They have to convert their opportunities here, but they know that the Crows have the momentum coming into this fixture. They failed to make a fast start, but their recent form has displayed plenty of togetherness and quality.

Reilly O’Brien will be full of confidence following his display last week, and he could prove to be the difference in this fixture. The Crows came out on top when they last met in the JLT Community Series earlier in the year, and they will be looking to make it a hat-trick of victories against their near-ish neighbours.

The last two AFL meetings between the sides have ended 96-93 and 95-90, and there is seldom much between these two teams. Another close contest looks likely. The Crows look likely to go off as the odds-on favourites, and that looks about right, but there could be value in backing this game to be extremely tight once again!

BT Sport will have highlights of all AFL matches this season in the UK.

Best Bets of the Day – Sunday, May 5th 2019

Paul Pogba

Bath v Wasps
Premiership Rugby – 3.00 pm
BT Sport

Wasps are still in the mix for a top-four finish in the Premiership. But they are one of a clutch of teams who are scrapping it out to get there. One of those others is Sunday’s opponents, Bath. So this is a big fight, attracting a lot of attention for best bets of the day. Wasps start the weekend in seventh place in the table, four points outside of the top four, so that’s a lot of ground to make up with just the two rounds of action to go. Wasps will kick off as 13/8 underdogs at the Rec because their away form has been poor.

Wasps have won just two away games this season in the Premiership. They have won just two of their last seven, home and away (both home fixtures). So Bath, who are one point behind Wasps will be looking to press home the advantage to leapfrog their opponents in the table. Bath have already taken two wins and a draw against Wasps this season in league and cup. They are 8/15 with leading bookmarks to get another over them. They have, however, lost their last three at the Rec against Wasps.

Huddersfield v Man Utd
Premier League – 2.00 pm
Sky Sports

The Terriers are almost out of their misery in this tough Premier League campaign. They are currently on an eight-match losing streak in the league, losing each of their last three on home soil. Huddersfield have won just two home games all season and this would be some upset to the tune of 8/1 odds if they pulled out the victory. So this one is really all about the faint hopes of Manchester United in reaching the top four at the end of the season. That’s not all in their own hands.

The Red Devils have to better whatever it is that Chelsea manages over the weekend for the door to stay open for them to reach the top four. United start the weekend three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea but are worse off than the Blues on goal difference too. They are not in form are United with just one point from their last three league games. They have lost four of their last seven played (W2 D1) and each of their last three out on the road as well, scoring just one goal in that sequence. Given the big struggles of Huddersfield this season, United are even money to win to nil with leading bookmakers.

Arsenal v Brighton
Premier League – 4.30 pm
Sky Sports

A game of huge importance for both of these sides for two very different reasons. Arsenal need to shake off some poor form to try and push towards a top-four finish, while Brighton need a point to guarantee to help secure their survival. The Gunners have slumped to a three-match losing streak in the league. Arsenal conceded exactly three goals in each of those losses. That’s a total of four defeats in their last five games for the Londoners now. Can they turn on the style in their final home game? Arsenal have won 10 of their last 11 home games.

Brighton have only taken the two points from their last seven games in the top flight. The problem for their survival is that not only are they at Arsenal this weekend, but they finish the season against Manchester City. Brighton have collected three away wins only this season and have lost five of their last seven on their top-flight travels (W1 D1). They are massive 8/1 underdogs in the outright winner market for this one. That’s understandable for a team which has scored one goal in their last eight games. Will that lack of goal scoring threat from the Seagulls help guide Arsenal to win to nil at 13/10 odds?

Our live bets section will help you to keep up to date with all the big action on Sunday.

Can Nadal Reign in France Again?

Rafael.Nadal .

In the last week of May, the eyes of the tennis world will once again be on Paris for the 123rd edition of the French Open; one of the most distinctive and popular sports events in the world.

Over two weeks, the elite players of men’s and women’s tennis will take to the famous red clay at Roland Garros to fight for the second Grand Slam trophy of the season in a tournament that provides a gruelling test of stamina, willpower, skill and athleticism.

And if one player in the men’s game has earned the right to call himself the King of Roland Garros, it is the legendary Rafael Nadal. The Spanish star, who will turn 33 during the tournament, has dominated this event, and while his prodigious talent has also enabled him to win at Wimbledon and to lift the Australian and US Opens, his most dominant form has always been showcased in Paris.

He won his first French Open title in 2005 and has hardly relaxed his stranglehold on the event in the years since. His victory over Dominic Thiem last year was his eleventh French Open win, outstripping the next best player during the Open Era, Bjorn Borg, by five. The youngest of the five players during the Open Era to complete the career Grand Slam, he also holds a record 57 clay-court titles and his 81 consecutive wins on the surface is another modern tennis record.

And when tennis fans tune in to the ITV coverage of this year’s tournament, Nadal will once again be the centre of attention. Not surprisingly, he is the clear favourite to win the French Open for a twelfth time, being rated as a 7/5 shot by most bookmakers, with his nearest challenger, Novak Djokovic, priced at around the 5/2 mark and Thiem the only other serious contender at 9/2.

So, can Nadal extend his record-breaking run and win in Roland Garros for a twelfth time? His form this season so far has been mixed. A run to the final of the Australian Open was followed by a second-round loss at the Mexican Open and a withdrawal from the Masters event at Indian Wells. He then lost consecutive semi-finals, on his favoured clay surface, to Thiem and Italian Fabio Fognini, which will have given hope to Nadal’s rivals that perhaps he may be beatable this time round.

But the little Spanish genius should never be underestimated. He knows exactly what it takes to peak in Paris, and there is no doubt that he will be prioritising Roland Garros above any other tournament this season as he aims to add another chapter to his legend. So when it comes to the big one, we can be sure that Nadal’s tenacity, stamina and prodigious top spin ground strokes will make him the overwhelming favourite with tennis fans looking for the best odds on Bigbetbookmakers. And as any tennis punter will tell you; you back against Nadal in Paris at your peril.

Best Bets of the Day – Saturday, May 4th 2019

Rafa Benitez

Cardiff v Crystal Palace
Premier League
BT Sport

Cardiff’s survival hopes will hinge on this weekend’s home game against Crystal Palace. Their destiny is not all in their own hands though. Cardiff have to win their final two games of the season to have any chance of staying up. But also they need Brighton, the only team that could replace Cardiff in the bottom three, to not pick up a point in any of their two remaining games. So all Cardiff can do is win this and hope for the best. The Bluebirds are 6/4 with leading bookmakers to take three points in this one.

Crystal Palace have nothing to play for, having already earned their safety. The thing about them is they are in a great form away from home. Interestingly the Eagles have won four of their last five road games. They boast the sixth-best away record in this season’s top flight actually, in stark contrast to them holding the second-worst home record. So that’s problematic for Cardiff. The Eagles are 17/10 underdogs, but there’s nothing wrong with their away form, but will they be able to handle the intensity of a desperate Cardiff?

Saracens v Exeter
Premiership Rugby – 3.00 pm
BT Sport

There is little doubt about the big game of the Premiership weekend. Although actually, this is not a game of tremendous importance. It is league leaders Exeter making the trip to the Allianz Park to face the formidable Saracens, who are sitting in second place. Saracens could cut the gap to the Chiefs to four points, which is the best scenario that they could hope for. That would leave the race for top spot open until the final weekend of action. But a change in position is unlikely to happen realistically.

Saracens will be looking for revenge after a 31-13 loss at Sandy Park against Exeter earlier this season. They have actually lost four of their last five against the Chiefs, but are 5/6 with leading bookmakers to land the success in this one. Saracens do, after all, hold a massively impressive 20-match winning streak at Allianz Park. But with just the one win in their last seven against the Chiefs, the visitors will no doubt turn up in a confident mood. If they land the win at 6/5, then top spot in the table for the regular season is sealed.

Newcastle v Liverpool
Premier League – 7.45pm
Sky Sports

A late Saturday kick off in this one. Liverpool face their last test out on the road in this season’s title race. They will be visiting St James’ Park and it will be interesting to see what challenge Liverpool will come up against. The Reds are W12 D5 L1 on their league travels this season and they have won 8 of 9 away games against teams in the bottom half of the table (D1). Liverpool are 11/10 to win to nil in this one, because it may be tense for them on the road. But their defence has been so strong all season, having earned a clean sheet in half of their road games. This is the high-profile game of Saturday’s top-flight action and will no doubt draw some of the best bets of the day.

Newcastle though are a team in form on home soil. The Magpies have won six of their last seven home fixtures, scoring at least two goals in each of those wins. So there is every reason to expect them to be a success in the fixture. They are 12/5 with leading bookmakers in a Newcastle – Draw Double Chance. But with them having already avoided relegation this season, Liverpool will be turning up and hoping that Newcastle are in a relaxed mood. Dropped points in this one for Liverpool and it would all but put the tile in Man City’s hands. Pressure on.

Southend v Sunderland
League One – 12.30 pm
Sky Sports

This is a big game for the Black Cats. Sunderland have already secured a play in the playoffs and now it is a matter of jostling for position. A win is the only thing in this game which will give Sunderland a chance at finishing third. Sunderland have lost just the three away games this season, one of them last weekend out at Fleetwood. The nice thing about this is they can play something of a relaxed game because of knowing that they are heading to the playoffs regardless.

Sunderland are 6/4 to take the win in this one. For Southend, their survival is on the line. They start the weekend only outside of the drop zone on goal difference over Plymouth. But that’s not the end of their problems, as Walsall and Scunthorpe, two of the bottom three could overtake them if Southend fail to get the victory. So there’s immense pressure. They do have home advantage and the home side are 8/5 to collect the victory and what a precious one it would be.

The best bookmakers for big betting will to provide you with the best experience for your betting, so look for one that delivers what you need.

Best Bets of the Day – Friday, May 3rd 2019

Jos Buttler

Everton v Burnley
Premier League – 8.00 pm
Sky Sports

Burnley have already managed to avoid the drop this season.  So they can be excused for any relaxed attitude. There’s no great pressure or intensity needed from them. They make the trip to Goodison Park for Friday night’s Premier League action. The Clarets have not had a great season on the road, winning just four times on their travels. To be fair to them, three of those four wins have happened since the turn of the new year. Burnley are W3 D3 L2 on their league travels in 2019. That’s not bad at all but they are 5/1 underdogs to win this game.

Everton do have a shot at a top seven finish. That door hasn’t been totally closed to them yet. However, they would have to overturn a four point-deficit in their last two games over Wolves to get there. It’s not too likely, but Everton have been in pretty good form since mid-March. The Toffees are W4 D1 L1 in their last six league games. The notable improvement from them has been in defence. They have taken five clean sheets in their last six league games. Leading bookmakers have even money on this game going under 2.5 goals. Will that be one of the best bets of the day from Friday’s football action?

Ireland v England
ODI Cricket – 10.45 am
Sky Sports

Ireland get to test themselves against England, one of the best sides in the world at the moment. Officially England are the best side in the world in the ODI format, according to the ICC rankings. England have taken a win in 23 of their last 34 such fixtures. This are important match warm-up for England ahead of this year’s Cricket World Cup. England are strong odds-on favourites to win this game.

Such is England’s batting power that leading bookmakers have 4/6 odds on a Century To Be Scored in the duel. Ireland will not be going to the World Cup but they are ramping up their activities. Following this they will go into a tri-nations against the West Indies and Bangladesh. So Ireland have ten matches coming up in a three-week period. This may be a good chance for them to look at some youth with more than half of their starting lineup over the age of 32. They are long odds to beat the English.

Sevilla v Leganes
La Liga – 8.00 pm
Premier Sports

The race for the top four in La Liga looks as if it is going down to the wire. Sevilla start the weekend fifth place, level on points with fourth-placed Getafe. So it’s all still to play for and no margin for error at this stage of proceedings. Sevilla have won four of their last five home games in the league and they have been scoring pretty freely as well. They have netted fifteen goals in their last five home games alone. All season they have averaged 2.18 per home game.

Sevilla are 13/10 to win to nil with leading bookmakers for this home game, . They have taken a clean sheet in half of their last six league games, and in total have earned one in 41% of their home fixtures during this campaign. Leganes are sat down in 13th in the league and have gone without a win in five (D3 L2). With them having won just three away games all season, seeing them claim three points may not be all that likely. But they can prove to be a stubborn opponent. Just back in mid-April Leganes claimed a draw against Real Madrid. Their problem has been putting the ball in the back of the net  and they are 7/1 underdogs for victory on Friday.

Harlequins v Leicester

Harlequins still have a chance at landing a top-four finish this season. That’s their big goal and they go into the penultimate round of action, level on points with fourth-placed Northampton Saints. So the door is wide open for the Quins in this one and this is the kind of game which they have to make the most of. It’s at home against the side sitting second-from-bottom. Harlequins though have to shake off some poor form as they are on a five-match losing streak in the league, two of those coming at home at the Stoop.

But they are favourites and leading bookmarks have a 10/11 price on a Harlequins -11 handicap to highlight that. That is because their opponents Leicester have won just one of their last five league games. That lone win happened against bottom side Newcastle. That was just one of two away victories that the Tigers have earned all season. But it’s not all doom and gloom. They are on a five-match winning streak against Harlequins, home and away, and are 7/2 underdogs to pull out another one.

It’s the start of another fantastic weekend of action, which big matches at the end of the football and rugby seasons to come. Check out Bobby’s Big Weekend Bets for further insights.
