The Austrian Hockey League, otherwise known as the EBEL, is the top-tier hockey league in Austria contested yearly for the national championships. As well as Austrian teams, the league also contains sides from Croatia, Hungary, the Czech Rep and Italy, after a change was made in 2005-2006. Only Austrian sides can win the ‘Austrian Champion’ title, whereas all sides are eligible for the ‘EBEL Champion’ title. Italian side Bozen-Bolzano are the current champions.
